Cruise Control won't set

My cruise control has worked flawlessly for 95k miles, until yesterday. The "on" indicator lights, but the cruise won't take a set. I've tried at different speeds over two days. Any ideas? Thanks.

Masterstream, I recently had quite a bit of problems with my cruise. It would work for a while, but often would quit. The light would stay on but couldn't set it. After 2 replacement PCM's the dealer finally figured out it was the brake light switch (on the pedal). They weren't even sure about it, just put it on and said try it. Sure enough it worked. It's about a $13 part, so it's worth trying. Good luck.

Mainstream ~ Dealer when changing my fuel filter accidently disconnected a vacuum line. The end that came disconnected was behind the headlight someplace. One of the reasons I don't have the dealer change my filters or oil anymore. Maybe that would look for broken or disconnected vacum lines.

Also while your at it, check the vaccum line that runs down to the actuator from the fire wall. It should go under the drivers side battery.
If its the vaccum line let me know and I can give you the part number instead of having to run circles with the dealer. Its a hard number to locate on their drawings. .

Masterstream, mine did this, and it was the cable connection at the throttle plate. This is under the black cover on top of the injection pump. It had popped off. Snapped it back on, 5 minute fix.

The servo is mounted under the battery tray and run off from the battery eats the vacuum hose(hard plastic tube). I think there is a TSB to fix this but I am not sure if this applies to your year. Just replace about six inches of the tube with rubber hose.

I had trouble with my c/c as well and it turned out to be a speed sensor.
I don't know where Clayton N. C. is but we are having a get togather at Jorden Lake near Raleigh. If you aren't doing anything Sat. the 17 of March around Noon come on out. I will be cooking a pig and other things. We have about 10 trucks so far coming to this B. S. session.
You may be doing this but you can get more info on our meeting at the Local and regional Events topic.

Thanks, Chris. I'm about 15 miles southeast of Raleigh, and know exactly where Jordan Lake is. I have something scheduled for Saturday, but if it falls through, I may stop by. Don't plan on me at this point, though.

You can adjust the brake light switch. Oush the brake pedal down, grab the switch plunger with your fingers and pull it out (it will make a ratcheting sound). Release the pedal and it will set the height.

Had this problem with mine when I bought it, drove 11 hours home with no cruise!
