when i bought my pickup, i only wanted the basics... no power windows/locks/leather/e. t. c. However, the one thing i wish it had and doesn't is cruise. is there a way to install it aftermarket? i don't really want to go through the dealer if i don't have to. is it something the average do-it yourselfer can handle?

I installed an aftermarket cruise control system made by Audiovox in my old diesel VW, then transferred it to my diesel Benz, then to my diesel Isuzu pickup. It took a little tuning to make it work best, but it was easy to do. You don't have to install it yourself. Places that install stereo systems usually do cruise control systems too.

I'm pretty sure you can buy the Dodge components to install the factory system. The programming is already in the Powertrain Control Module.

There may be something out there with a search on the internet. I just bought a used Jeep with no cruise. On a Jeep forum I came across a post for an outfit selling the factory cruise components -$200-. Showed you where to look for the pigtail whitch meant it was already wired. Was a bolt and plug in job of 20 minutes. The plastic area on both sides of the airbag are just blanks. Unbolt the airbag from the back side of the steering wheel (batteries disconnected) and the control switches plug into sockets behind the blanks.

i've searched online with little luck. most of the units i have found are for gassers and such. if anyone can point me in the right direction for either factory setup or aftermarket, that would be great.
