Any ideas on my cruise. This is on my 1995. I have no cruise control. Have replaced everything minus the servo. DRB says my buttons are all sending signal. New speed sensor vacum lines good. harness good. Could it maybe be the PCM. Our service manuauls here dodnt brake it down to good for 1995. Dodge servor does not go back to 1995 to old. So i cant get the origanal trouble shooting guide. :

the old snap on red brick scanner will actuate the solenoids in the servo if thats of any help and you have access to one, mine wound up being rust holes in the servo, jb weld has held for two years now

I have access to the DRB factory scan tool, from work does not have that fuction that im aware of. I have a matco scanner it also only see,s the ccircuit open and close on the steering wheel swicthes.

I had the stop lamp switch get out of adjustment somehow and would not let my cruise control work. Other things could be blown fuse, cruise control cable disconnected, no vacuum at servo, defective servo, and defective vacuum reservoir. I would look at adjusting the stop lamp switch. You can remove it, check continuity to see if it is OK. Then you can pull plunger so it is completely extended, which should be 3/4". You then reinstall the switch and push the brake pedal and plunger will adjust to correct setting.

I'll second JD on the brake switch. Don't know about "adjusting" it, though. I've been told they are not adjustable and just replaced mine. Maybe I was mis-informed. Nothing to lose trying though as long as you have access to a new one if it doesn't work.

If you are going to do much work on these trucks you do need the service manual. It will pay for itself pretty quick. In the case of the brake switch, even if you buy a new one it has to be adjusted. It's pretty simple to do but hard to describe. The service manual has pictures and a good description to go with the pictures about how to do the adjustment.

You can easily take the stop light switch off the foot pedal assy. Push the brake pedal all the way down. Then you rotate the switch 30* counter clockwise, then it comes out. Then unplug the wiring connector.

The procedure for installing a new one says to pull the plunger all the way out, and then push it in 4 clicks. After installing it "lightly" lift the brake pedal up to it's full rearward position. Doing this will cause the plunger to rachet into the switch - into "correct adjustment".

After you take the old switch off the pedal cluster, you (maybe) can pull the plunger out. Then on reinstalling it you go through the adjustment process.

If you pull the brake pedal up with too much force, you will "adjust" the switch so that it will never turn the brake lights off (or permit the cruise control to work). This can be done hard enough to jam the plunger fully inward. The book says "Excessive force will damage the switch".

When I got my '96, it's brake light switch was like this. I had to remove it, and carefully disassemble it in order to pull the plunger back out. The book said you couldn't do this - but hey, how many other things are not user servicable? You can take it apart, and reassemble it with the plunger working correctly again.

And if all that doesn't work, what restored my cruise was replacing the servo unit, back in 01 it was like $77. 00 from DC. But, if price increases for parts are anything like those for diesel fuel  it's probably $300. 00 now:-laf
