Cruise control

Just curious, My new 2001 Dodge, auto trans.

3. 55 axle,Quad cab, Long bed, doin about 65 M. P. H. with the cruise

control on pulling a 29ft. travel trailer weighing around 8,000 LBS. ,kicked out of cruise and into third gear everytime I encounter a slight grade over an overpass. Take the cruise control off and no problem staying in overdrive. I am under the GVCW rating . Is this normal?

My 1992 twelve valve with the Banks Power Pack never had any problem when in the cruise mode.

Just wondering if this is normal,and also what is the silence ring on the air box ?

I have a 99 . . I pull a 31 ft 5th wheel which is 8,200 empty, (9200+ when using it). . It used to downshift too until I replaced my injectors with the TST'. These new injectors gave me more torque and since it does shift out of the O/D only when I get to grades much bigger than the overpast.



So my guess is that your'e missing a bit of torque. You may want to upgrade your injectors or use a BOMB box (EZ may be) or both.
