Check the grounds on your gauge wiring. Is it the standard or EV series pyrometer? My EV had a problem with jumping around when I had it in my other truck, and I finally traced it to a bad ground. ALso check your lead wire from your t-couple- sometimes they develop issues and you have to get a new one.

i dont think i even have a ground going to the guage, the instructions never said to install one, i just have the leads from the thermocouple to the guage. thats it. but it only jumps around when i tap the guage, maybe i just need a new guage.

try a new/ different leadwire. Something about the resistance has to be just right...
