Has any one heard of the cruise not turning off when you push in clutch? I know that the rpm's should go up 500 then turn off. My 2001 6 speed H. O. will not always cut off and rpm's go up till I touch brake or touch the cancel

I'm pretty sure that Dodge uses the same switch that is used for the starter. It may be mis-adjusted. With the engine off, try putting the truck in neutral, and with the cluth all the way out, turn the key. Push the clutch in and determine at what point in the clutch travel the starter engages. I consider the clutch disengage for the cruise to be a safety feature, but don't rely on it for normal use. I always disengage with the steering wheel switch.

Try this.

Get around 15-20 MPH above the speed the cruise is set at, let off the fuel and then push in the clutch for a second (and let it back out). Once the speed drops far enough that the cruise should kick back in, Does it?

I would not beleave that 500 RMP thing on the clutch disconnecting the cruise.

ON mine, the cruise can push the fuel pedal pretty far, almost WOT! If your cruise has the pedal down pretty far, and you push the clutch in, I will see much more then 500 RPM spike until the computer remembers to cut the cruise off.

By getting your speed above the cruse point, then push the clutch in, you will see if the switch is sending the "disconnect" signal to the ECM, without having the "suprise" of the RPM spike.

The cruise will not shut down unless it sees a too-quick rpm rise. If you were on level ground or maybe slightly down hill when you did this, the cruise would remain engaged.

I've been scared to try it with mine. I always hit the brake first.
