I was surfing the 12 valve forum yesterday and saw a thread about cc problems, and I was interested in the "fix". my cruise varies the throttle position minutely while on flat, straight,no wind stretches of road, causing the boost to vary and instant mileage to fluctuate, the speed does not change, but I can feel an acceleration, with added exhaust note. does my CC have a programmed memory that CAN be reset by setting and turning it off 20 times?

I also have a steady right foot because my CC constantly hunts going down the road - it drives me nuts. My '97 was dead-on even all the time and I used it a lot.

From 96 service manual.

Flutter in the speedometer indicates a problem which mite cause surging in the speed control system. Make sure speedometer is working properly.

If it is working problem could be.

Misadjusted brake light switch.

Loose corroded electrical connection at the servo.

Loose or leaking vacuum hoses or connections.

Secure attachment of both ends of the speed control cable. Smooth operation of throotle linkage.

Speed setting after lock-in,to high to low.

Insufficient vacuum at servo.

Deffective servo.

Defective cable.

Check for codes!

These symptom are close to what you are describing.

Thanks for the info, I'll check for codes and then vacuum leaks, etc. would love to have the CC working correctly as I do a lot of highway driving.

thanks, guys, I'll check system, just figured it would be a quick n dirty fix, since it is all electronic controls, the ecu would be the culprit, and a quick reboot would fix it, but I'm not that ;lucky, I guess
