Like an idiot, i crunched the top of my tailgate that i had in the down position while backing my boat trailer, backed up too short and the winch nailed the top of the gate. Do any of you have any suggestions as where i could buy a used one or a new one at a fair price? I don't want it repaired bondo'd and painted, would rather just buy another one, i wonder if companies who do utility beds have taligates that they don't know what to do with. please give me your suggestions, which dodge parts dealers are good to deal with? how about used parts yards that deal in newer stuff, mine is a 2001 thanks for any help you can offer john skalet

You'll find that a new gate from the dealer is incredibly expensive. Best bet is the TDR classifieds or even post a wanted ad right here on this forum.

Happened here too

Don't axe why, but Dad attempted to pull away from an unhitched gooseneck with the tailgate in the fully raised and locked position--in Mom's truck:eek:

I shopped around and had to drive to GA for a good price at a junkyard. Forgot how much.

The good thing is that a tailgate is the most painless part to replace.
