Has anyone had a problem with the cruse control not kicking off. Earlier this week I tapped the brake, and it didn't shut off, I then shut it off on the steering column, nothing. I was headed for the shoulder standing on my brakes when I shut the key off, that finally took it out of cruse. It has worked fine every since. It has done this twice. Stepping on the clutch did no good, went up to 3500 rpm before I shut the key off. Anyone else had this problem?

Had the TSB done on mine a couple of years ago. My problem was not that drastic... it would keep pulling when I hit the brakes, but I could turn it off on the wheel to stop.

Either way it needs to be taken care of

Here's the TSB

That is exactly the information I needed. That is what mine is doing right down to the fast idle. I had a reflash done a month or so after I bought the truck, but the sticker doesn't say anything about the code CO2 on it. I'll get to the dealer Mon. A safety recall should be a no charge deal, regardless of your mileage, I think. I'll find out. I don't recall ever getting a letter on it.

Thanks for the information

Check that your brake lights are working & that the switch is properly adjusted. Most cruise cont systems use the brake light switch and clutch switch to disengage.

the engine doesn't even need to see the clutch switch to disengage the cruise control... when the engine trys to load, and the engine rpm rises and vehicle speed doesn't, it will self cancel the cruise control... if it isn't doing so, there is a fault somewhere [try it your self, while in cruise, when going down a light grade, the engine will go to no load and you can float the trans out of gear with no clutch, then when it trys to load up again, it will cancel as there is no avalable load on the engine]
