Cryogenic Intercooler

Has anyone tried it? It seems to make a lot of sense. By Looking at the cryo2 website I would think any redneck should be able to whip one up. Is anyone else out there tinkering with it. If so let me know.

it probably works well, but you consume lots of co2 [or n2o depeding on system]



with the co2 one, if your running down the road it would work fine, but on the dyno, i think you might loose power, as there might not be enough air flow [even with fans] to get all the waste co2 away from your air intake...



if all you want to do is spray the intercooler down from the exterior, how about methal hydrate [air brake antifreeze alcohol] that is fogged onto the intercooler that comes from a cooler jug that is full of ice or dry ice... the liquid when it evaporates will probably draw more heat out of the IC than cold co2 gas...

yep... it burns... but if you cut it with some water, it wouldn't burn as easially, and you could still get that water/alcohol mix down to like 20°f [maybe even lower???]

I would use N2, not CO2- too reactive.

How about rigging up a tubular manifold that sprays a De-Ionized (not distilled) mist on the works.

As a combined-cycle power plant operator, we used DI water injection in the intakes of our power turbines above 85 degrees farenheit. This cooled down the supply air and (as a side benefit) reduced NOX.

That Looks like a nice system, But I think the biggest spraybar they have is a 19"x9"
