185 Ft/Lbs?

Do you have 2WD or 4WD? For 4WD the manual calls for 185 ft/lbs.

Paul, I got an 1/2 in drive Snap-on that will do that, and a plus I have a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter too! Do you want it them Friday night, or Friday Morning at SA? What hardware is this, the Axle Stub thru Nut? Moose Oo.

I think 185 ft/lbs is for the drive axle stub to the hub on a 4X4 front end. Definately way too much for a 2wd. I'm sure there's a spec to tighten it - probably while rotating the tire. Most people & shops I've seen snug them up by hand.

Edit: ... TqT - Dave's in Oakville is supposed to be good...

Yeah, it's the 1-11/16 nut on the end of the axle. My torque wrench might be doing okay. When I pull 185 ft/lbs on my 1/2" drive torque wrench I have to lean on it a little. Actually my 1/2" drive only goes up to 150. But I did just pull 122 ft/lbs on the 12 point screws that hold the hub to the knuckle with it, and I had to grunt a little. The 3/4 drive one is like 3 feet long. So maybe it's just throwing me off because with that much leverage 185 ft/lbs is nothing. If I was smart I'd just get the wrench calibrated. I may need to use it again, and I'll know it's right. What do people use for pulling the pump gear off the P7100 pump? Anybody got that puller?

Paul, If you want bring to work, and I can test it on a "Torque Meter" for a specfic torque. I don't know  were to get a wrench calibrated outside of my job. Moose

How do you calibrate a "Torque Meter"??? If the meter is off, won't the wrench be?

What is a "foot pound"???

ToolMan... THIEF!!! LOL

Is Jim's truck running now? If it is, he rebuilt half his engine in less time than it's taken me to do brakes.
