I was visiting the local Dodge dealer this weekend. The salesman gave me a truck brochure and I was looking at the ratings for the CTD. The salesman told me that all the new trucks now came with the "6" engine rather that the "5". I failed to follow-up with a question as to what this meant. From the conversation, I gathered this referred possibly to the 600 ft/lb CTD and the 610 ft/lb CTD.

Can any of you confirm this?

Long time lurker, fairly recent subscriber, preparing to buy either a 2005 or 2006 3500 CTD DRW LWB SLT Quad-Cab automatic.

Well, if I had to guess I'd say he meant the 305/555 engine versus the 325/600 or 325/610 engines.

There was a time when a SO came with a 5 speed manual transmission and a HO came with a 6 speed manual transmission. The sales person could be referring to those days.
