The chirp is from the belt, some do it, some don't, mine didn't before I changed the belt. I put a new Goodyear gator-back on it and now it chirps...
This is the explanation that I have read before (don’t know how true it is but it makes sense to me)... when a diesel motor is turned off it comes to and instant stop, sometimes even rotates backwards to a “neutral” spot…the rest of the stuff is still spinning when the crank pulley instantly stops, causing a slight slip of the belt making the noise you hear…
Just use the line I like to use when someone asks you why your truck “chirps” when you shut it off…
Turn to them with a big smile on your face and say…. . ”Oh, that’s just 600 foot pounds of torque coming to an instant halt”…. :-laf :-laf
