two days ago i awoke to heavy snow on the ground and temps in the teens. i jumped in my 01 2500 and started it up no problem. i unplugged and was on my way to 7-11. when i went into the store i left the truck running still trying to get the temp up. when i came out of the store the truck was not running. i jumped in and saw that the key was indeed still on but the truck had stalled. i tryed to restart the truck with no success. after waiting a few minutes contimplating what to do i tryed to restart the truck. it did not start intill i held my foot about 3/4 to the floor. when it did start it smoked blue very bad and would not stay running unless i held my foor pretty far down on the pedal. it evenually died out even while holding my foor to the floor trying to regain some rpm. after that it would not restart. i popped the hood and tryed to drain the fuel canister to make sure i did not have water that might be frozed in it. i drained the canister and cycled the key to get the lift pump to run and pressed the schrader valve on the pump and bleed the air. i jumped in the truck and held my foot about 1/2 way down and started to crank. it started and smoked for about 30 sec. then cleared out and began to run normal. the only thing that i can think of is, the truck was parked on a pretty good incline facing down. it had a little over a 1/4 tank when it was parked on the hill. durring this hole process of messing with the truck a better spot opened up and i drifted onto flat ground. it was then when i bleed the fuel system and got the truck started. could i have been drawing air in the tank? i plan to check for any codes tommorrow but the check engine light is not on. has anyone had this mystery problem before? since this problem i have began running de-gel in the fuel as a precaution. could this have been the problem? it was around 15 degrees that morning. any help would be helpfull. i have not had a problem since and it is around the same temp. THANKS!!!!!!! :)

Im pretty sure you gelled, im from Canada and with -32 degrees celcious anitfreeze gels. I ve had it happen many times cold fuel from the tank slowed down comming through the lines as it idles, just caused it to gel and stall, its a good thing you got her flat, you may have been there for a while. I run stanadye religiously in the winter and summer for both gelling reduction and fuel system lubrication, ie injectors and pump, i think it would be a wise investment to run this religiously yourself, (it can also add 100 miles per tank) it will prolong the life of your injectors. I have 500000KM on my truck and up until last summer i never touched them, until the marine 370's that is. hope this helps.

No I Am Not Affiliated With Howe's Or Their Parent Company

Additives ... additives additives! Last year the rig was subjected to -32* (-32 degree Fahrenheit = -35. 5555556 degree Celsius) AMBIENT TEMPS! during a sled trip to canada Via the first CT Lake region in N. H. I use Howe's religiously and this was no exception as I used alot. The guys at the place we were staying in ran 'round the parking lot "Yud better start yer truck! Let em run and Keep that fuel flowin!" Me ... alltho nervous was  whatever I was plugged in and the truck sat for 3 days in that stuff. Morning came and outside wre three F250's all Klatterin' away belchin white. One of which sounded terrible and they were workin on it with hairdryers. Me I walked outside (Still nervous after seeing the commotion outside) but acted cool and hopped in the truck and waited for the light and First crank she fired right up! Really did not hear the PE4200 complain at all. Fuel pressure was 18lbs (I expected higher with thicker fuel but I guess the Howe's worked on that too) and I pulled out and grabbed the trailer.

To me they are cheap insurance as MY time and MY personal comfort in knowing I have a better chance of getting somewhere I want to go in REALLY cold weather is worth 800 times that of being in a cruddy situation wondering if you have any large flamable items in the truck to keep warm when you are in the middle of nowhere @ 1:00 A. M and in the - 20's.

I use Howe's as I am a more the merrier kinda guy and on the bottle it says no harm in using too much. So guesswork is Nil at best ... . Glug glug glug or Duuuuuummmmmmmmmp *Drip* works for me :-laf

Update!!!

UPDATE!!! i scanned for codes and found a p0602 code. the definition for the code is something like ecm fuel delivery failure. i pulled the trouble tree off of alldata and found the only solution to the problem was to replace ecm. it did leave alot of room for intermiten problems with that code??? what now, the truck runs great like always???

P0602 (M) ECM Fueling Calibration Error ECM Internal fault condition detected.

I suspect the Superchip on that one. I have seen a few posts before on ecm hiccups with the SC upgrade.
