dkosheba,

You won't need timbrens to carry that plow. I had an 8' steel Fisher and my 03's carried it no problem. As a matter of fact the 03's carried that plow better than my 01 2500 gasser.

Personally, I would let the dealer do the install.

Here's one of my trucks ready for a storm.

Rosco,

Do you have additional pictures of your fisher mount with plow removed. How about a couple front views and a side view. I am leaning toward the Western as I think it has the best looking receiver in the summer months with least amount visible.

I got tired of my old Unimount Western mount hanging down on my 01 Ram after a couple years.

I'm looking at either an 8 foot Western Ultramount Poly-Pro or an 8 foot Boss Super Duty. Both about the same price. The Boss is a little heavier because it has a 1/2" cutting edge as opposed to 3/8".

I've had both before and they are great plows, though I like no lift chain on the Boss - just cylinders. No bouncing up in the air on rough roads.

I've had Meyers over the years and they are built very light unless you get the commercial series. Snoway looks like it would tear up with much truck behind it.

I just sold my nice 8 foot Unimount Western from my 95 CTD as it would not fit on the 03.

Oh, I've been plowing snow since I was 16 and have never torn up a truck plowing. Just be careful on everything and you won't hurt it.

Take care,

Blake

I have had a WESTERN for 7 years now. I had it on my 96 2500 first then my 98 3500. I just sold the 3500. My western was the PRO PLUS w/ UNI-MOUNT set-up. I do 13 of Penske's car lots. A few churches and a few schools. There are times where I sit at the dealer for hours and days waiting for salesman to move cars. All the while getting around $100. 00 hr. My 96 auto worked real well. My 98 worked even better with the added HP and Tq and the rear dual wheels.

I had to buy a new Uni Mount to install my Pro Plus on my dads 02 F250 HD. I just plowed with that for a few days and it was alright. The CTD does a much better job. It will be my spare rig if I ever have a problem.

I orederd a new Dodge 600 QC 48re 3500 a few weeks back. I looked at the new WESTERN set-up. Its real sweet. Its hidden high up under the front bumper. You do however have to remove the lower fascia off the bumper to do this. You may notch it I believe. I have never had any problems with my Western Pro Plus after many hours stacking snow on car lots sometimes 12 ft high. As long as you are smart and add the correct amount of ballast you will be fine.

When my 04. 5 comes in I will be buying a new Western Pro Plus. It will cost about 3500 installed. I will have it installed. Granted I juts installed the Unit mount and wire up my dads F-250. I would still rather pay 300 and have my friends shop do it. He sells way too many plows. He was loosing 4 plow sales a day just because he is so backed up with installs.

Anyway I would say Western Pro Plus. The new mounting system is almost invisible and probably does not weigh 90 lbs like my old Uni Mount.

Pray for snow. I need to pay for that new plow. :D :D :D

BTW without question get the hand held remote control. It removes like a telephone cord. its easy on your hand.

And don't forget most importantly: were getting paid by the hour most of the time. Take your time and be nice to your CTD. You don't need to get a huge oversized plow. Unless you rasise your rates.
