I have an 07 5. 9 w/a 6 spd manual. How do I determine what the gear ratio of my truck is? When running 65-70 it runs about 2200- while my buddies auto 5. 9 runs about 1900. Just curious--- Thanks for your help.

Look on the inside of the glove box, there should be an equipment list sticker, it sounds like you have 4:10 gears, 3:73 gears are in the 1900 RPM range.

Thats about right with the manual and 3. 73 gears. The OD gear is short in the G56 transmissions and it will run right at 2400 rpms at 75 mph with stock tires.

Put the back of the truck on jack stands and mark the tire with chock or piece tape and mark the drive shaft with chock or tape then turn the tire one turn and count how many times the drive shaft turns. so if the drive shaft turns three and three quarters turns then the ratio would be 3. 73 and if the drive shaft turns about 4 times then the ratio would be 4. 11 this is if you have stock tires. I gess if you have over sized tires this can tell you your new final ratio . I beleave this would work. Or you can go to your Dodge dealer parts department and give them your Vin. number and thay can tell you what came on your truck when it was new.

Thanks for the replies---- 4. 10 by the sticker on the differential. On the window sticker of my truck is says... . "This truck created especially for Harlan King... " Obviously Harlan didn't want it, but must pull stumps for a living! Ha. Thanks again.

The early G56 up to Nov-Dec'06 BUILD had a . 79, 6th gear ratio. Your buddies Auto has a . 69 OD (4th) ratio. If your truck was built in Nov-Dec '06 then it could have the AE ratio, G56 with a . 74 6th ratio. 4:10's with the early G56 would be revvin' high on the freeway. My '07, 5. 9, G56 with the late . 74 6th will tach 2,000rpm at 65 mph. Stock tires
