YOur 100% right after I brought up that The Cobra wasnt till '93 he said his is not a cobra it just has the little 4 screw plate ... ... Then I get back on TDR and Guess what ... LOL



HE said there is only about 25 horse diffrence from his and a cobra ??

Well the Cobra are basicly gt-40 heads and has a better intake to match the cam. Dat's it. The Cobra was designed to basicly "Breathe Better" and respond well to the ever more popular aftermarket crowd in the early 90's.



(I was Ford SVT Certified at the Yonkers training and development on the Lightning and cobra project in MY93) Rob Bondurant was there for a week and we beat the snot out of a set and the interesting thing that we found out was the performance the Cobra offered when at "Track Temp". Meaning she held its peak HP when run hot (Intake runners heat soak blah blah Head volumetric efficiency patterns remained relatively unchanged etc)

So basically he is bone stock then. Which means at best he's running mid to high 14's in the quarter IF he can drive it. Probably closer to the 15's. Also I think the cobras came factory with 3:55 gears. Most gts I believe had 3:08's.

Before you start practicing your launches in 4x4, make sure you take everything out of the back of your truck. And make sure that any toolboxes are securely bolted in.



After my recent mod (Edge EZ) my buddy and I decided to try the 4x4 launch. I didn't even get to hit second gear. The truck launced so hard that it ripped my toolbox out of the back of the truck! As soon as I get bigger bolts, I'm gonna try it again!!!

Boost launches on a stock transmission = busted parts. Bad idea :-{}

Also I think the cobras came factory with 3:55 gears. Most gts I believe had 3:08's.

Remember it's a1987 ... No Cobras existed in 87. DM's Got him SECCOND THAT ON BOOST LAUNCHES!!! Stock trans and boost launch = carnage ... even in stock trim Non 4 wheel launch can snap a input shaft.
