Heat Shield, what material

w150 frame

I have an old Ford F-100 that I am thinking might make for an interesting CTD swap. Or possibly a complete Ram frame swap.

What do you think?

like those old trucks. that would be a great conversion . might have alot of beefing up on frame and springs and such. do you have a motor for it ,or will you be looking?

I don't believe I'd waste my time on an F100. An F250, maybe. A Dodge W200 or W300, definitely.

No, I don't have one yet, just kinda formed the thought while looking over some of the awsome conversions in the posts here.

I think you're absolutely right George. I think the F-100 is ok as a body donor. I think it would be easiest to put a Ram frame under the truck. The old 1/2 ton frame would never handle the torque of a Cummins.

A guy around here daily drives and early 50's Chevy truck sitting on an '80's Suburban/Blazer frame. That old girl of yours would sure be a conversation piece on top of an early 12-valve chassis if you used it in the same way.

That's what I was thinking of using it for. Something a little useful but not really practical, kind of a "hot rod". Something to enter in the anual "hot rod show" here in town and maybe do a little limited travel in. Strong and reliable enough to pull our trailer for somewhat local trips. I'll keep the 2010 for the ong hauls. :)

I guess this is how these long and expensive projects start. :-laf
