2000 Dodge 3/4 ton 2wd to 4wd conversion

4BT engine inquery

i just got off the phone with cummins.

my 4bt CPL 858 was built in 1992

the engine, when original had :

105 horsepower @ 2500 rpm, which is redline

265 torque @ 1700 rpm. MUCH lower than i thought.

again, it proves to me that gearing and rpm in which the power comes in is important

i have not changed anything on the motor

Thanks for the info. I really want one in a 1/2 ton 2wd. Maybe a mid '80's chevy, short box, manual trans, lowered

I'm leaning away from converting my wifes truck, I've started wondering how it would affect resale.

I am semi-seriously contemplating the installation of one of these into a 1/2-ton 4x4 of some sort. Kinda leaning towards a Jeep CJ or YJ, or a '70s or '80s full size K-Blazer, but as of right now that is not set in stone. Resale value be damned! When I get done building the thing I intend to run it till there's nothing left.

I definitely want to see pictures and a writeup of that one Lee! I hope it comes out as well as your M715 did.

What I would really like to do is purchase a CUCV from govliquidations and repower it, but I gotta finish paying off the bills left behind from the motorhome project first. Heck, I'm still cleaning up the aftermath in the garage from that one too!
