4bt tach?

Cummins Power Wagon "64" for sale

ok heres what i have so far.

the truck is not its most fuel effecient on the highway. theoretically it should do 85 on the interstate at 2500rpm. if i floor it i can get 73, but not exact on rpm... . maybe 2000-2200, i dont have a tach but i know its not fuel effecient doing that. i dont know if its parasitic loss or what. but for the below numbers i dont care too much right now

results

145 miles =60 miles highway (65 to 70)/85 town

24. 16 mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

250 miles =220 miles highway (65 to 70)/30 town

23. 7 mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tomorrow im going to try and drive just town miles or less than 60 to check.

Well, it certainly doesn't sound to me like anyhting to complain about, especially considering that an M715 was never really intended for use on a Interstate highway anyhow.

I don't even wanna know what kinda MPGs the original six-banger got. :eek: :{

Correct me if I am wrong but I think M715's have 5. 83:1 gears in the rear end. . but then you would be on the governer at 45 mph or so. any way that sounds like good mileage from a HD 4x4.

m715 stock gears is 5. 87

my truck has a 4bt, nv4500 and DIVORCED np205 with a dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear and 4. 56 gears.

My Bronco was getting 17 running on the governor at 62-63 mph. I changed from 35" tires to 38's and it'll run 65 now with some rpm left. With the new tires, I got 20 mpg. It's got 4. 88's in it.

5. 87's what a beast that truck must have been. LAlessi do you have any updates on your site? Whats the link again? Sure have enjoyed watching your conversion come about. Bill
