Bus Conversion - $15,000

I'll take mine in black with the new SRT-10 Hood and SRT-10 bumper covers on it. Weighing in at 5500 pounds and packing that kind of heat in stock trim will make for a fun daily driver for the Wife. Time to start emailing Diamler about making it reality instead of a development project.

Looks like I'm not the only one excited about this article/paper...

Tim said: "Maybe because they've heard about your issues with bodily emissions. "

I think I could keep that issue under wraps for a few days to attend a conference like that.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a fan of a V8 diesel, but the diesel powered 1500 is certainly sparking my interest.

What's going to come out first? Cummins powered Jeep Rescue or the 1500/Cummins?

I imagine that the A8 turbo diesel will probably be in the $95-100k price point.

Uhh... cause your emissions are too high? Weren't we observing your 'visible belches' not to long ago?

Last year when I went to Germany I got to drive around in the Audi A8 do to a screw up at the rental counter. That was one nice car. I do not like cars much but, that would be one I would buy. It had good power in any gear. My only complaint was that the on board computer system was in German, and it had been along time since i have had to speak German. Another quirk it had was at slow speeds the throttle too touchy. Too much power while in parking lots.

According to an e-mail I received from John Stang (the Cummins presenter at DEER), Cummins is "shopping" this engine around:

"From: "John Stang" <john. h. stang@Cummins.com>

To: "Loren Marz" <lmarz@charter.net>

Subject: Re: Diesel Light Truck Program

Dear Mr. Marz:

Following up on your questions:

1. Cummins' Light Truck V-Engines will use low sulfur diesel fuel. This will be the standard automotive diesel fuel after June, 2006.

2. Cummins is working with the Automotive Industry to develop firm plans to some day offer V-6 and V-8 engines in SUV's and Light Pickup Trucks. We trust we will be successful.

If I can answer further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for your interest in Cummins. "

Oh, and the 2004 DEER Conference will be held August 29 - September 2, 2004, in Coronado, California. ( http://www.orau.gov/deer/ )

Good thread!!!

You know, if I sent an email to Cummins - their response would probably include the following phrase: "Thank you for your obsession with Cummins. "

Wouldn't they more than likely put the 48re behind this engine. Is the 47re even rated to handle the power?
