o5 Fords are starting to - well be a FORD!

I don't know about other states but loads like that going down the interstate you need to watch when passing. In Iowa they centerline all the bridges, in other words they drive down the middle of the road instead of the right or left lane. Gotta disribute the load more evenly. I have even watched loads slow down to cross bridges to 15 mph in Illinios. They had a DOT escort too!

The last place I worked, one of our customers bought 2 D11 bull dozers. They haul them about complete for pull scraper applications. I believe the tractor wieghs about 140,000#. No blade or ripper, just tractor. The haulers have to get permits to move the trailers around EMPTY!! :--) My father owns a semi on the farm, one day hauling grain to the elevator he found himself in the midst of several of the macks and kw's that were hauling some large dozers. Needless to say they made good time in the two lanes of southern IA. Dad's 12. 7 detroit at 80,000# had no problems keepin up ether. A buddy of mine "tweaked" it a little on night shift at the local Detroit dealer. He then said something about not taking the truck to California in its current state of tune. ;)

Those 600 Cats really run, I was wondering when they were going to be back on the market after they couldn't pass the new emmisions. Kinda funny how the tighter the emmisions get the worse the mpgs get.

On a side note, all of Cat's new motors use "ACERT technology. " All of there motors meet emissions with out using EGR. I didn't realize this untill I was at their website. Thats pretty cool.

GBechtold, do you still drive truck? I had a truck deliver some oil field equipment in the last couple of weeks that was from Columbia, PA.

Yeah I still hold the steering wheel while going down the road but I went in to hauling cars :-laf I not sure who would have delivered those parts to you Columbia isn't that big of a town. I probobly heard of them.

i saw that truck on TLC show monster machine, and i could have swore i saw under the hood a DDC 2 cycle engine. it was a V engine but i don't remember if they said v8 or v12... maybe it was an older version, but when you heard it running, it was a ddc green grenade [turbo mounted on top of the blower]

In addition to the slow speed, they will shut down bridges to all other traffic while the oversize is going over. Always makes for happy campers.

For example, as I am hearing all this whinning, I see a parade coming my way one day. The truck driver attempted to diffuse the situation by explaining that because the concrete bridge beam he was hauling grossed him out at 300k, they had to limit the bridge load from any other rigs. "So what", came back to him, "you are holding me up". 300K? I was impressed but then I was not in the parade.
