Yup, that's the new body style - just like your Dad's truck, Deo.



The S10/Sonoma pickups went to the new body style in '94... the S10 Blazer/Jimmy didn't go to the new body style until '95.

Was down there last night helping him with the serpentine belt.

Radiator and front support is in. Doesn't look that tight really. No place for the fan, so he's looking for the right size electric set up.

I'll have to get some pics.

I believe Camaro's & some Chryslers have flatter pancake fans than the set up I used. I have to stop up there sometime soon as my rear tires need replacing...

I was wondering for any one wanting to do somehing like this what about putting it in the bed? There is a wheely truck that runs the strip at lebanon vally with a damn big gasser in the bed he has the wheels up the hole way down the strip. Just think that way you have plenty of wait on the back end and lots of room. You could probubly run exhaust right out the turbo now wouldnt that be fun.

Hey if you wana see the truck im talking about come on up to my neck of the woods friday night 8/20. http://www.dragway.com/ it is the orang truck in that pick. A bunch of people will be up there with me if any one is interested. That lil tuck is crazy, no floor boards so he can see where he is going. Fire fire he he this sounds like its gana be a good time. As far as in the bed goes I figure the truck will be for fun so not realy gana hall anything other than ars and it would be a shame to wast a perfictly good bed. Oo.

One of my dreams is to take an extended cab Dakota, take out the firewall and move the seat, steering column, and pedals as far forward as possible. Put a firewall right befhind the front seats, then puch a hole through the back of the cab and mount the engine in the extended cab and front of the bed . Would make one heck of a drag truck!

Well the Cummins is going to be cooled by twin pancake fans mounted in front of the radiator controlled by temp switches.

Crossmember is complete with twin rear transmission mounts,driveshaft is in and connected to the stock rear (for now till it runs and all systems check out), and the new fuel tank will be mounted tonight and probably all connected.

As I was leaving they were "clearing out" a path for the downpipe.

Wife said she would take some pics tomorrow.

Back in the fifties I saw a hotrod magazine article on a VW that had a small block chevy in the back seat. If that worked so would the dakota. How about putting the engine in slant mounted like the inline six cylinder gas engines in dodges. Probably couldn't get anyone to ride with you anyway. All the stuff could be over in the passenger side. You and the steering could sit in the back seat.

The twin fans are in, master cyl installed and plumbed, and next is the battery..... where will it end up going? Will AAs crank the engine? Might be all there's room for :-laf :-laf

No it'll fit somewhere. The real challenge is going to be the air filter, and gettin some cool air in.

Wiring will start soon... another challenge, but thankfully only a few things need power to run these older engines.

I'll try to get some more pics.

Put the battery in the bed... that thing is going to need all the weight you can throw at it in the bed to help offset the 6BT.



The good part about the VE-44/P-7100/VP-44 trucks is that you don't have to crank them for very long before they fire off... I bet you could get by with a single 750CCA battery... folks have done it before...

How about punching a hole threw the firewall and putting the air filter in the area of the pass window?



While we are at this monster garage thing some of the old muscle cars have some really long front ends if ya know what I mean.

I've updated my reader's rigs with 4 more pics... . every day it gets a little tighter in there! (in the engine bay that is)

But rumor has it that the engine was running last night. Must be true... . son called tonight and asked the oil capacity... he must be changing it.

I think I'll stop by tomorrow after work and check it out.

Jay is that a washer fluid resevoir or coolant overflow on the passenger fender? If washer fluid might be able to cancel it or relocate, or find a smaller vertical/straight up and down type from a car or combo wash/fluid/coolant overflow then get a intake hose, or make one, from a 2nd gen since it curves back at 45* towards that container and stock size AF might fit?? Course then probly have to upgrade that little compressor housing to IC'd housing with 4"outlet for the 2nd gen intake hose to fit??

Bill, That's the coolant overflow... . I already told him it had to go. I think that was the stock S-10 overflow tank. We'll fina a smaller one and locate it someplace else.

He said he had it rolling last night... . the single vacuum pod didn't give enough for the power brakes... so now I'll be searching for an electric vacuum pump.

Jay: What's up with the vacuum pump not being able to keep up with the brake booster? Couldn't you just rebuild the existing vacuum pump?



The vacuum boosted brakes on my '94 work great... they're crap compared to a 3rd Gen truck, though.
