Mrs Moose saw it yesterday in Torrington. She said to me "Did you know that there is a Diesel S-10 in Torrington, I passed him yesterday. " I said "Yes I did. It's Jay Lenorad's Kids. " Moose

Just a quick update to what is happening with the S-10 project... .

My son broke his left shoulder goofing around on his quad so things have been suspended for a bit. (We call him "napolean" or "righty" and we can get away with it for a while longer) :-laf

Things going on over the winter... .

Ford Bronco rear axle will be cut and fitted... with a matching driveshaft.

Custom fiberglass center console will be designed, built and installed between the buckets. Will include a "hole" for a tach... so a tach is on the list too. A stereo too I'd recon to guess.

VE pump rebuild and "power up" customizing by GL industries. Including a 3200 rpm gov spring.

Possible (ok. . probable) intercooler... bed mounted. This will necessitate a turbo upgrade IMHO. . model TBD.

Windshield wipers. :-laf Had to throw that in. Need em in case we get caught in a downpour.

I also smell a repaint comming on.

Other than that the truck will pretty much sit out the winter. 2 wd and that much power just don't cut it in New England in the winter.

not all Scout have posi rear ends. Most Scout have alot of miles on them with so the traclocks will need rebuilding. In my opinion the tracklocks never worked well when four wheeling our Scouts. The 44's might live with after market axle shafts but I doubt it. I used to have a 6. 9 in my old Scout, and it became an axle eater until Dana 60's went in.

s-10 part 2

I kinda po'ed you guys beat me to the punch. I had been planning this for a while and I just found the motor. . copterdoc

Did you sort out your power steering problem? I was able to use both my pumps because I lifted the motor up with the stock rubber mounts. Did you install an intercooler? I want to use one if I can make it fit. copterdoc

Copterdoc,

No intercooler yet. If he adds one it will have to be in the bed I think.

No power steering problem, it's the brakes that are weak because we removed one of the diphram pumps... . I think a resevoir or an added electric will solve the problem.

yea I wrote power steering I ment power brakes. I was able to retain both pumps because I had room to lift the motor a little bit because of a three inch body lift. What kind of a driveshaft did you use? I am looking at making a two piece out of the three piece that came out of the 1990 dually.

Any updates Copterdoc and JLeonard? Those trucks are AWESOME!

I've been trying to talk a friend into putting a 6bt into his s-10 instead of a 350... .

No updates here. My son has not touched the truck since the fall. He started another project (67 Chevy truck rebuild) then had some other issues (broken collarbone, bought a cabin in upstate NY, and now a fixer-upper house). So it has not progressed.

I think I need to wipe off the dust and run it around the block a few (dozen) times to circulate all the fluids.

ooh oooh... can I help? :D

Why do all the cool projects have to be so far away??? I think my wife might be involved... :-laf

Please let us know if anything is done to it, I like seeing projects like this.

Are you saying the truck hasn't been driven since last fall? Almost a year ago? Wow, I can't imagine having something like that and not driving it. I just read through this thread and what a project. I thought it was interesting making the 6b fit in my Suburban. My project pales in comparison to this. If you ever get it to the midwest, I would love to see it.

I haven't driven my conversion in about 2 months now because it got broken into and messed up. I sure do miss it. Yeah that s-10 looked like it was pretty cut after they got that cummins in. I'm thinking of doing a body drop on my truck and I'll probably have as much gone as that s-10 when I'm done
