we didn't get hit too hard just west of baton rouge but we probably had as much crap in the yard as the whole rest of the street, ill toss up a few pics

action shot

didn't like how this tree was moving so i moved the fleet in to the empty center garage (we own the triplex and dude headed for the hills) 20 minutes later it hit the ground about 12' behind where my hotrod bmw was parked, if it was any taller it would of done more then just bend the gutter

after a slight adjustment

#ad

my cargo trailer is somewhere under the tree next to the ford

the unadjusted portion of the offending tree after forcible relocation via cummins, fairly good sized too, didn't want to carve it up then move it to the curb as it's big and very wet, not worth trying to burn in the fireplace as it's just a trash tree but i may be dragging a oak and a hickory or two home for processing

#ad

and his little brother that came down with him

#ad

not sure i could of pulled them if i hadn't hooked up like this to A lift the tree B add weight to the truck, hooking bumper level would of probably resulted in tire smoke

mom giving a little scale to the big tree

mmmmm..... husky... good saw

#ad

always wanted a husky but there was nothing wrong with my poulan wild thing, till we started in on yon tree then the primer bulb promptly disintegrated at the end of the first tank of fuel and in bypassing it the fuel lines all crapped at once, not something findable hurricane day and after standing inline at lowes a little short of a hour where they were letting in 5 at a time, i got there early enough that i was about 20 back and wound up out waiting about half of those, got to my turn and the only thing they had in boxes was 14" wuss saws, they were keeping my 18" husky for me cabled to the shelf, they must of known :-laf

Happy to hear you got out of the storm with minimal house and vehicle damage. Be safe getting your place cleaned up.

Looks like the wind was blowing hard enough where you were. How hard did it rain.

With the rain we had down here from Fay we were lucky the winds weren't any stronger or trees would have been coming out at the roots.

Looks like we mite get a piece of Ike though.

not all that much volume of rain at once but several days of it added up, chainsawing up trees in the rain sucks, parts of baton rouge look like a war zone with all of the crap down, they have loads of big oak's with shallow roots over there and they love to flop over taking out the power lines, most of our power here in port allen is underground so we were out 2 days, some of BTR will be out 2 weeks. not sure what ike is going to do as it's early but i like Tropical Weather : Weather Underground for info, at the moment only 2 of the 6 computer models have it coming our way

whoever designed the bench seat in my truck clearly didn't have a 6'2" 270# guy sleeping on it in mind, the goobers working on the power knocked us offline after being on since the day after the storm on sunday morning (yesterday), we went out for the day figuring the juice would be flowing by time we got home, nope, and on walking the dog i discover we are the only house on the street without power, a quick call to chew on someone finds "oops someone forgot to throw the switch for our side of the street, we'll send someone in the morning" #@$%! of which we are the only house, by 8:30pm it was so miserably hot and humid i said screw this grabbed my portable dvd player a pillow and headed for dodge, watched the matrix and sacked out in the ac

What a bummer to make it through the storm then loose power after the fact.

I feel for :{ you, we lost power (and water) a couple of times in 2004 but they finally got it going. It seems that our side of the street always looses the power.

We got one outer band from Ike today but other than that it was a nice day. :)
