I talked to a Cummins tech one that works for Cummins

he said that the 07 ctd will have stainless steel lines and the pumps will be compatable with biodiesel fuel the 06 and older are not as compatable the problem with the fuel is the lye that is used in the making of the biofuel.

lye is very hard on steel lines they are changing to stainless steel.

so with this info one might not want to make a biofuel unit with black steel pipe fittings (as most of the appleseed unit's tell you to use) /brass (not copper) will work just fine but stainless steel would be the best.

running blended fuel (dse, ect) is not the same as biofuel it has it own set of problems.

I agree that the stainless fuel lines are best for an appleseed. However, ASTM quality BioDiesel shouldn't have lye in it at all. If it has lye in the fuel, it is not BioDiesel and shouldn't be put in the tank. If you are running lye through your fuel system, you will have problems in any year truck.

Well I am not so sure there is enough NaOH or KOH left in the fuel once washing is complete, the water after my last wash is 7 PH. Im not so sure I would worry so much about metal parts but rubber parts are a very differnt story. I have had trouble with a few o rings on my bio filtering system. I have converterted all those to viton so time will tell if that works. I have had no troubles to date with the truck. I just cut my first fuel filter apart after running 400 gallons of bio and found nothing in the filter. The filter had been on the truck for about 30k total.
