ARP Retorque Question

i read something similar about 6 months or a year ago. truck makers must not think a diesel in a small pickup will be a hot seller or they would have done it by know. i for one would like to see it happen. if that thing could achieve 30mpg on the highway it would sell itself easily.

Put that in a Dakota and you'll have a winner. The Titan PU is highly over rated IMO. Global Vehicles with their stillborn Mahindra estimated the market at 50,000 vehicles annually. It's a shame that we don't have this option with the renewed run-up in fuel prices. Instead, we get Ford's super complicated Eco Boost engine. We'll see how that works out.

Nissans just seem to be built cheaply. That is what makes it a disappointment.

I think if they were to make an I4 for a 1/2 ton truck it would be a winner.

Seems to me Dodge was estimating about 50k cummins pickups per year back in 89. They were wrong then and they are wrong now. A nice smaller pickup that got 30 mpg would sell like hot cakes.

Small diesels are used everywhere in the world where the EPA doesn't exist. My buddy has become a reluctant diesel advocate after renting a newer Toyota Hilux 4wd qc in Nicaragua. Loved it. Of course, down there it wasn't bogged down with EPA mandated choking emission controls.

Shouldn't be a problem. My 2010 Frontier Crew Cab with V6, auto, & 4WD gets 22 on the highway & 20 mixed. BTW, it's built every bit as well, if not more so, than my Dodge. Of course, I'd have loved to get it with a 4BT!
