While camping this weekend a friend of mine (a Chebby gasser guy), mentioned, along with several other criticisms of Dodge products, that Cummins is a major contributor to PETA. He cited an article in Outdoor Life.

As an avid hunter he stated he would NEVER buy anything with a Cummings engine.

I find it hard to believe that Cummins would support waccos like PETA. Anyone out there have information on this topic.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Essentially they believe that animals have a brain that functions similarly to ours and that we should give them equal rights. They're against hunting, fishing, drug testing, medical use, etc. I agree that animals shouldn't be tortured in medical labs, but they've taken it to the Nth degree.

P eople for the E thical T reatment of A nimals.

One of the most wacko leftist terrorist groups in America. Their latest outrage? Gotta save the Bees... It is cruel and unsusual for bee farmers to pull the wings off the queen. Can't you feel their pain?

For a good laugh see: www.peta.org

Also some of their campaigns... http://www.fishinghurts.com

Here are some articles the last is pretty scary:

And Ford owns Cummins... Rumors are really easy to start and 7734 to squelch. Somebody with an Outdoor Life subscription can speak up now...

... ok. . thanks for the clarification.

my view on the animals. . i don't believe in killing animals in laboritories for testing purposes or torturing them for the pleasure of those that watch [cock fighting, dog fighting] but if a new cure for some horrid disease can be created by doing animal testing, i am ok with that. i do believe that animals were put on this earth for us to use as food. while i do not eat that much meat, i do eat it [but i will not touch seafood] the way i see hunting is to provide for you or someone else. if you kill it, use all of what you can and don't waste it, it's all good. . if you kill for fun and don't use the animal for food [like getting it stuffed for the wall mount] i think that is dumb. these animal activists are getting as bad as greenpeace tree huggers. .

In many cases they are worse. Read the last of the 4 links I posted earlier. It is long but an eye opener for sure.

I did a search for Cummins PETA. Seems as though there are quite a few women in the PETA organization whose last name is Cummins. Big deal. This is how rumors start, when people only read half a sentence.

I guess his running down the CTD should have been a signal to start the crud filters. I hope this thread lives the short life it deserves:mad: I think your friend should buy a D-mux and live with it. Ok, I'm done now:) Greg

Good Points!

He thought the D-max was the best thing since sliced bread, even though he's probably never been in one. He didn't get my points that dispite the record of the "medium duty" isuzu engines, the light duty version in the chebby is unproven.

Oh well. His loss. I'm looking forward to the day he has a TT and we a caravanning to a campgrounds. I can't wait to see his expression as I pass him going up hill.
