yep my underpowered Standard output 2016 with undesirable 68RFE also does a pretty good job pulling my fiver.
I don't know if I need more power or not, simply because I've never found anything the truck won't do.

Also considering peak torque is at 1200 RPM, I suspect it's more of a replacement for the 8.3.

8.9 (L series) replaced the 8.3 C around 2010 ( I think.) It weighs over 1600 lbs.
