My buddys diesel just blew . He says his valves siezed and bent the push rods. Repair cost are going to be $5000-$15000.

Does any body have a 2001 engine that they want to sell?

It probably happened due to poor lubrication,according to cummins. Bad News.

Sounds more like prolonged idling at low EGT's that caused a varnish buildup on the valve stems. Of course, if the oil were never changed... ... . :rolleyes:



Did it take out the pistons, damage the block, rods or crank? A head and some pistons would be a lot cheaper than a complete replacement engine.
