Not to impressed with that wierd looking baja brush guard thing. They could have done better than that thing. Shoots your approach angle all to hell.

Cool looking truck. And It's a Ddoge too. But, We run a F-550 as our brush truck and it has a better configuration on it (450gal). If this dodge had a better setup it might make for a great wildland truck. They should use a 3500 and put at least 300gal on it.

But I must say that I am happy to see Dodges entering this field... Now only if Dodge offerred a 4500, or a 5500 then fire depts would really snatch em up.

Must be a very well funded volunteer FD. If you can afford to PAINT flames on the hood of a FIRE truck. Ours can barely buy lug nuts to hold the wheels on.

Too bad a real brush truck will have more scratches on it after a season than a sanded block of wood.

180 gallons on a fast response light truck may make the difference between a fire getting away from you or not, before the bigger trucks get there.

Our local departments still have 1960s 4x4 3/4 ton, step side brush trucks. Nostalgia fire fighting. ;) :D

When I spent my seven seasons with the California Department of Forestry we didn't have any engines with less than 500 gallons. As small as that amount seemed many times its hard for me to imagine doing with less. Then again I put a lot of fire with a five gal backpump too.

Firstgen

That's how I got hooked on Cummins - we ran a 1st gen brush truck and a 2nd gen light truck out of my station.

Total dependability. We used the Brush for fighting brush fires outside of town and hitting hot spots - four wheeling and firefighting all in one...

We are down to one cummins powered truck :( Our 92 pierce dash rescue... We have a 71 GMC brush plus an 86 1 1/4 ton chevy with a 6. 2 (state truck for the PA guys) that we run as "tac 9" aka attack pumper. That truck doesn't look like that bad of a setup, you can probably actually drive it without wandering all over the road etc like most WAY overweight brush trucks, plus that truck won't need rear springs in 10 years like teh overloaded ones all will.

Looking back through the specs, I bet that bumper DOES serve a purpose, def. a winch mounted in there, functional scene lighting etc plus protecting the front of the truck, looks like a modern spin on a classic extended bumper

I wish our VFD could get some (2) good used cummins reg. cab 4x4's,96 or newer auto.

Our two brush trucks are x military Dodges that the forrestery service wore out for the second time. We run a 250 gallon on one and 300 gallon on the other.

I think the truck on this thread looks good, should get the young peoples attention. We need young members.

If you look really close at that bumper, there is a spray nozzle above the foglight, bottom side of the horizontal bar. VERY convenient.
