wish I was smarter at 'puters..

The sizes of attachments are limited or it will kill the forum servers. For pictures like these, get a free photobucket account and just copy the image link into the post. That way the puctire will show and you don't have to worry about sizing.

one time years ago I knew how to do that... dont know where I lost it, probably has something to do with a woman and beer. Time to learn it again.
Thanks AD for posting them for me..

For posting on the forum, I e-mail the photo(s) to myself using M/S Outlook which gives me a choice of sizes. I chose the medium size which fits nicely on the TDR forum. When I receive the e-mail to myself, I open and save the photo(s) to my photo files with a name I can find again and it's always on my computer in a usable size ready to use.

I resize my pictures for web site posting using Photo Shop. I keep a folder with these pictures in there and named so when I do an attachment I brose this folder. Just another way to store photos and post them.

Response I received from ThrottleUp... Hope they dont mind me sharing it. Looks like they are trying to build a good product, so there may be some changes in the near future. All in all, the kit does what its suppose to.

, we apologize for the trouble here on your short bed. We are looking into making some changes to the existing kit to meet the needs of the short bed guys better. Room is tight under there, but we are trying to figure out a way to adjust the kit accordingly and still keep costs down for guys and keep the kit a nice and clean install. We are glad you got it to work and appreciate the link to the forum and the time you took to upload the pictures. Have a great Holiday Season and thanks again for your business. We appreciate it.

Have to add my $.02 here. If you are concerned about road debris hitting/damaging your filter(s)....here is what I did to protect my dual oil by-pass filters that are frame mounted on the passenger side: I went to Home DePot and bought a piece of Sch40 PVC pipe that was near the same inside diameter as the O.D. of my filters, then I cut the PVC length-wise to make a snug fit over my filters. Next, I cut the PVC to a length that was maybe 1" longer than my filters. I slipped these homemade plastic rock protectors over my filters (they fit snug for me) and then added a couple of SS hose clamps to make double sure they would stay in place. I used black PVC for mine and Home DePot sold it in 4 ft lengths.
I suppose a person could also make up something from vinyl or old inner tube rubber and accomplish the same thing.
I may decide to make something similar to protect the filters on my FASS Titanium system, but I first want to see how much dirt/mud hits them---maybe they are mounted where they are already protected. Have to wait and see if they collect any mud.

I use a foam sleeve for thermal insulation and road debris protection.

Im really not concerned about it on a metal cased filter such as the Cat or Baldwin. I think that concern came into play when discussing the idea of using the Cat F/W seperator filter as it has a removable polycarbonate bowl on the bottom. That sounds like a great idea though, both the PVC pipe and the Foam ideas.

The Cat F/W seperator filter with removable polycarbonate bowls now have an optional replacement metal unit. Don't have the PN close by, but dealers should have it.

I see according to there website, as of 1/27 they have resized the mounting bracket to accommodate the short-bed trucks now. They are now available for both.

hahaha.. would love to see a picture of the new bracket and install instructions..
Looked at the site and checked the instructions, didnt see anything updated for the SB trucks.

Nice to know they cared enough to listen to the customer and make the changes needed. They didn't just blow smoke up your a** and go about their day.

How often should i change the factory fuel filter now with this set up....I changed it every other oil change....about 10,000 miles...I figured i could go a little longer...

In theory, you could go indefinitely. I plan on changing the factory filter every 12 months. But I will not change it at the same time as I change the Cat filter. Any contaminates that get intot he system from changing the Cat filter can be caught by the factory one.

I am thinking of doing my own version of this and was wondering how many of you have eliminated the stock filter altogether? I would leave the housing there but it would be empty. My reasons for adding remote filters is two fold. One better filtration and two easier to change. I would run the FLG versions of the filters, FF5320 ( or better yet the new NanoNet version FF5814 ) replacing the C*T one and FS1212 or a FS1001. I already have two FLG heads and all the lines and fittings left over from working on my previous truck. On my 2003 Dodge I had an AirDog mounted down by the fuel tank and I removed the fuel line from the stock filter to the injection pump and plugged it off. I then ran a -8 ( 1/2" ) steel braided hose from the AirDog all the way to the CP3 injection pump bypassing the stock fuel filter housing. I left the housing there because the return line goes thru it but it was empty. It sure was a lot easier to change filters after that. I never had any issues in winter and since I didn't use my truck that much I just changed both filters on the AirDog once a year.

I would leave it. It's still a catch all and has a WIF sensor.

You do need to change the OEM filter. It will still get some stuff in it, thou not much; however, all filters have a service life that is based on time not miles/hours. I don't let my filters go more than 18 months.
