When I pulled my head at 386,000 miles cylinders 5 and 6 had the most wear (6 more than 5). I heard one downside of the kit is warmup times are even longer but not sure if that was an isolated case.

I have one installed on a 12 valve. Doesn't seem to take any longer to warm up in the winter. Mine was put together by Enterprise Engine. It's been in a few years and make me feel better if nothing else. It can be done with the head off but it's a real pain in the butt. Dropping the trans makes it do able. I figure better cooling can't hurt.

It will bleed coolant away from the cylinder head, might cause hot spots in the head.

Not a problem with mine, as there is a valve to control flow from head that prevents bleeding coolant from head. It's inline on the hose returning coolant from head to radiator. Your concern has already been covered by a well thought out mod. :)

Does the 24 Valve have the same flow control valve?

I was hoping someone had installed one on a 24 Valve. Was this a fix for 12 Valves or does it help all trucks?

I'm pretty sure that all 5. 9 Cummins engines would benifit from this mod. I have seen many 24 valve motors and did not see any cooling hoses coming from the rear freeze plug on any stock motors. I didn't use the Cummins kit, so I'm not sure if it comes with a valve. The Enterprise Engine kit did come with the valve. It would easy to add to the Cummins kit if it does not come with one.
