7-ton Wolverine Diesel

NEED GM 6.5 Help!!!

I saw it also and was quit frankly surprised that it was left on the board as there are not many good things said about Dodge over there... . However I have to give those folks credit, they love, or dearly want to love their GM product. Everytime I look at a PSD or Duramax engine compartment, I am so happy that I have that little ole ISB 6 banger under my hood!

No offense to Ford owners (I like fords!)

But look under the hood of a Powerstroke and you'll get that same warm fuzzy feeling associated with the 6-banger.

I read the thread. Someone is already crying foul because the Cummins had a "chip" on it. Wait a minute, assuming the Cummins was an ETH with 245HP and assuming the "chip" had 40HP that is 285HP. The Dmax is touted to be the most powerful diesel pickup engine available today with THREE HUNDRED HORSEPOWER! Notice the disclaimer: "A stock Dmax will not beat a chipped Cummins". You do the math... ... ... ... ... . :p

Right on, Barry. Let's just get this straight. They want to compare apples to oranges. Turn the Cummins to 300 hp, leave the Duramax at 300 hp ( this is all at the flywheel by the way) and let them go. That's even. A stock 300 hp Duramax SHOULD beat a stock 245 hp Cummins. But what are the bragging rights to that. Duhhhhhhhh.

I'm glad they left the post out there. Funny thing about the philosophy of owners..... I didn't buy this truck for its convenience at the drive thru window. I don't go thru drive thru's when I tow. My loads will tear their drive thru covers off the wall. However, I did ride in a Dmax powered chevy at the Georgia National Fairgrounds recently. The owner of that truck then rode in mine afterwards. I found the Chevy to be soft, almost slushy feeling. I also didn't like the constant shifting of the Allison once we got on the four lane and he accelerated.

I had a one ton Chevy that tended to lean hard under load in a curve. My 2500 doesn't do that. That's why I like it. The Cummins will pull it's guts out, it's a solid, firm ride and at highway speeds, there wasn't much difference in noise between the Chevy I rode in and my Ram. My Ram has 40K miles on it. The Chevy was under 10K miles.

I get 22 mpg. He was getting 18. And no Chevy fans, I don't have the VIN or any other info about the truck except it was black with leather interior. Guess what, he doesn't have mine either. We don't do that crap down here to verify stories.

BSHELTON - I was going to say the same thing, the servicability of stuff under the hood of a PSD is actually better than the same vehicle with a Ford engine in it. :)

DENNY... ... ... ... ... ... .....

By the way, Mr V...

Thanks a million for that link. I printed it out to show my Boss - I work at a GMC dealership. :D :D

I drove Duramax aut here and thought the exact same thing.

We are doing some work to a Ford dually now - I checked it out pretty good.

Its a good thing they didn't run into Scotty around Calgary with Great White. They both would be suckin dust. #ad
. . LOL. Heck even Shawn. L. Turbo would have cleaned their clocks... .

I'll keep a look out for an ego on the side of the road... LOL. .

I finally came across a Duramax on the highway yesterday. A 2500HD Crewcab, not towing and bed empty. I was pulling my small chipper 3000 lbs, bed empty, but my truck weighs 8250 lbs. We were going up a 7% hill and he pulled alongside in the other lane and stayed alongside me for awhile, going around 45 mph. His lane was open, I had a car in front of me. He started to accelerate, so I changed lanes and went behind him. He went up to 60mph and I stayed right with him to the top of the hill. I don't know if that was all he had or if he did not care to go faster, but I saw him looking in the rear view mirror a few times.

What is missing from the duramax is torque. That's why they out run an empty (stock) cummins but lose on a loaded pull. Thats pretty much true of any v-8 diesel. Nobody offers a v-8 in a big truck diesel anymore and thats why (besides the poor mileage). I think cummins is a great motor and thats why I put one in my 93 chev 4dr dually. I don't have any trouble outpulling fords and chevs and most dodges. I also just got a 2002 D/A chev. It won't pull with my cummins, but it handles my trailer ( 22,000 to 24,000 GVW) better than any truck I've ever had and its real quiet. The mileage ain't too great yet (350 mi on it) but there are drawbacks to all I guess.

Thanks- yes it is mine. I haven't raced my DA. It wouldn't be much of a contest. But, like I said, if I were heading out for a long trip pulling my trailer I would take the DA because of how it handles the trailer and how quiet it is. My first tank of fuel in the DA was 11. 5mpg. I was pulling part of the time and stomping it to see what it would do part of the time. Hopefully it will get a little better. My Chev/Cummins gets about 11mpg pulling and 19-20mpg empty if I drive it under 70mph and don't get on it too much.

Hey guys, His brothers Dodge is a 98. The ETH's were not available yet. That ought to hurt his feelings even more.

Tgbol, I think not that it is not a ETH, but his brothers truck is an auto which I think that hurts the most as it isn't even a stick. So guess his brothers truck is only around 225 HP and 500 TQ to the rear wheels with the VA which beat a Duramax.
