Right on, Barry. Let's just get this straight. They want to compare apples to oranges. Turn the Cummins to 300 hp, leave the Duramax at 300 hp ( this is all at the flywheel by the way) and let them go. That's even. A stock 300 hp Duramax SHOULD beat a stock 245 hp Cummins. But what are the bragging rights to that. Duhhhhhhhh.
I'm glad they left the post out there. Funny thing about the philosophy of owners..... I didn't buy this truck for its convenience at the drive thru window. I don't go thru drive thru's when I tow. My loads will tear their drive thru covers off the wall. However, I did ride in a Dmax powered chevy at the Georgia National Fairgrounds recently. The owner of that truck then rode in mine afterwards. I found the Chevy to be soft, almost slushy feeling. I also didn't like the constant shifting of the Allison once we got on the four lane and he accelerated.
I had a one ton Chevy that tended to lean hard under load in a curve. My 2500 doesn't do that. That's why I like it. The Cummins will pull it's guts out, it's a solid, firm ride and at highway speeds, there wasn't much difference in noise between the Chevy I rode in and my Ram. My Ram has 40K miles on it. The Chevy was under 10K miles.
I get 22 mpg. He was getting 18. And no Chevy fans, I don't have the VIN or any other info about the truck except it was black with leather interior. Guess what, he doesn't have mine either. We don't do that crap down here to verify stories.
