need help rebuilding my 24V where is the best place to buy cummins engine parts does anyone know of a web site with prices all I can find are people selling turos boxes etc. I need a couple of pisons long story thats what happens when you buy a truck a moron worked on! any help would be great thanks

Might try these guys, They sell Mahle pistons. I know they have a ton of stuff for us 12 v guys. Just look at their parts list it is broken down by CPL.

www.maxiforce.com

If they have what you want tell them you would like to set up a cash account all it takes is name and address. That knocks off like 35% of their list price.

I have a large order in the mail now.

Cummins is where we get all our OEM parts. Be sure and have the engine serial number as they can't find anything without it. They will also ship anything they do not have in stock overnight for a small fee.

Not to hijack a thread but I too am looking for a piston and it has been a headache why is there 3 piston grades for a 02' HO motor? I had a exhaust valve seat drop and shatter ruining a piston but thankfully not the cylinder wall so I'm in the proccess of replaceing it and there are three grades of piston from Cummins a Grade A, B, C for my engine code of 56931692. I need a standard size. Whats the deal? Please any help as I need to get it back together.

Jared,

The grades refer to the protrusion of the piston. Just check which one you have and order that one. I believe cummins can actually match up yours without pulling the piston if you give them the engine serial number.

they can't seem to match it at this time from the engine serial number and the block is a replacement by Dodge is there any casting numbers under the piston to identify it, I belive that the parts guy said the a,b,c,identification used a 7 digit number ending in 51,a 52,b 53,c and there is a 52 casted under the piston skirt but it doesn't have any more #'s to assosiate it with the 7 digit #. the top of the piston has

6050

02

P36 in that type of shape around the top of the good pistons and it is on all of them.

Thanks for anymore help... again sorry not to hi-jack...

I have been looking for a source for the parts to rebuild a 98. 5 for a while. Not sure what all is the same for the 12 and 24 valve but was told at Cummins that the rod and main bearings were the same. Don't know about the rings, I'm going to do some measuring and see if I can tell about them. Pistons are probably different and haven't found a source for them. Just got in a new Fel-Pro gasket catalog and they have the 24 valve listed. Looks like you could probably buy them from Cummins as cheap or cheaper. Got a new SBI catalog in last week and valves, guides, and seats are available from them. I would like to know if anyone has found the pistons from anyone but Cummins. Was told by a diesel shop they were using aftermarket kits that were much cheaper than OEM. I will try and find out where they are buying them.

Ihave'nt found any yet but I know that Mahal makes 12V pistons but I hav'nt found them for a 24V just yet I'd buy factory Cummins pistons if I could find someone to sell them to me Sheid Diesel want's $192. 00 each I mean really I love my Cummins truck but Ive been into high perfom gasers a lot longer what kills me is just cause it's diesel they jack the price up 5 times just like head studs $460 for studs!!! keep me posted if any one finds parts Thanks

mvandever, look around u can buy arp studs for under 400 clams. some of the vendors are making a great retirement off of some of these parts!!!

type in the part number on a www search. p/n 247-4202 sorry not trying to be a jerk but didn't know if i would get frowned upon if i posted a website link.

but i promise you will find the cheaper if not im me!!!
