Cummins motorhome Swap????

Later 5.9 or 6.7 with 6 speed auto in a 2nd gen

Wife and I are passing through Columbus, Indiana in the near future. I decided to inquire about a tour through the CMEP(Cummins Midrange Engine Plant). They build our B engines. Personal tours are arranged when production is scheduled, which is just the day shift at present. Has anyone else taken the tour lately? Any questions you should have asked but didn't? Needless to say, I'm excited.

I went through there back in 04. Interesting to see the way they put things together and do the testing. I think you'll find it worthwhile.

I was fortunate enough to be able to tour the marine (and industrial) engine plant in Charleston in 2000. The base engines were built in the Rocky Mount plant.

are you talking about Charleston SC and Rocky Mount NC???

Yes. I only toured the Charleston plant where they add the bolt ons for the various marine and industrial engines, dyno test, etc.

I had purchased a new marine 6bta 270 3 months prior and I had them look for a dyno sheet for my engine. However they only test approx 1 in 8 enignes and mine didn't get tested. Had I know that if I requested it be tested when I ordered the engine it would have been and I could have had a copy of the results.

It was interesting (to me at least) that Cummins rates their engines at minimum horsepower where ithers rate at nominal.

In other words the 270 hp engine I bought would have a minimum of 270 hp. Other brands could be plus or minus.
