My best friend and I bought 2500 Hemi's on the same day. I got frustrated at the BAD fuel milage and after 8 months I traded it off on the CTD. I Decieded to play with him the other day. We ran 2 runs, first run I was ahead about 1/2 truck length, and second run I was a good truck length ahead!!! Not bad for only 3500 miles on the truck. Not only can I pass a Hemi, I can pass a gas station too!! I'm vary pleased!!! He's not!!

Since I see all of the talk on here about running the hemi's, tell me this, when on the highway and you go to pass, does your CTD drop out of OD to get the power, or does it just toss you back into the seat? Can you hear if the Hemi drops a gear to keep up with you. Just curious because the 5. 2L RAM I had before would need to drop out of OD to accelerate at all. The CTD just growls a bit and off she goes!!!!

I too am a former hemi owner. Had a nice '98. 5 extended cab short bed 4X4 CTD. Got caught by all DC's hemi advertising as well as needing a full four door for when the grandkinds come to visit. Sold the 98. 5 and bought a beautiful '03 flame red 1500 QC SB with the hemi, tow package, 3. 92 LS, 20" wheels, the whole package. I kept it nine months, then went back to diesel. The hemi was fun, but didn't have the performance I thought it should with 345 hp. Got 9mpg pulling my bike trailer out to Sturgis. Heck that hemi would not spin a tire. Something about a "torque management" system. When I bought the '03, I was also considering a new supercharged Harley Ford F150. Probably should have bought that. I'd likely still have it. Wouldn't have lost the $$$ I did trading the '03 in on the '04.

Pug,

The Hemi will drop a gear, maily because most have a 5 speed auto. That was one of my bigggest complaints. The darn thing was always downshifting. The CTD does just go!

payment is actually $769, went back and looked, only put $11,000 down not $17,000.

total payback will be $47,900 @ 48 mos. ..... guess I took a bath on a loaded dually with extras :{
