Ford had some Cummins stock at one time. It was 10% or less. They sold it in Jan '97. Then do not own Cummins and never did. That tale refuses to die because of Ford salesmen and other ignorant people.

Many Ford trucks have cummins engines, just not the little pickups.

I buy most of my engine parts from Trans-West Ford, a cummins supplier.

you nailed it on the head Oo. :)

It's a question that's been asked enough it made it into the Cummins FAQ section (a bit more brief than it used to be, though).

Cummings bought back stock that Ford had

I read that Cummings bought back the 10 percent stock that Ford had. I have heard many stories why Ford did not put Cummings In there trucks. GM took years to wise up also. They all could use a wack across the head on this. Power and good mileage Is the answer which Cummings Is the leader I think. VW did once have a diesel In there truck now no more. They also need there butt kicked hard. Some days I think they sleep In to long. Ford In the Class Motor Homes sell the most and lousy gas mileage why doge don't wise up and build a chassie for motor homes with Cummings Is belong me. :-{} I would fire a few of them on this.

Dude it's Cummins, not cummings. :-laf

Ford's current contract with Navistar for the Powerstrokes runs through 2013 so I don't see them changing engine brands before then. They did back out of their contract with Navistar for the V-6 Powerstrokes that were to be used in the F-150 but it cost them alot to do it.

It may have costed them a lot to get out of thier contract, but that was probably one of the smartest things ford has done, Saving them millions in warrenty repairs in the long run...
