Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) cummins insite software

Anyone interested in this be careful. I'm not well versed in how the software sets up etc. I do know that you generally have to buy passwords to maintain your subcription with Cummins Inc and the password can/will cost more than the asking price for the tool.



This looks like the old Insite 2. 1 stuff, we are now using 6. 2 currently, along with 5. 4 professional.

If I had the proper registration codes and such would I be able to check codes on my 99 with this tool?

I use it on my 99 and it does a lot more than check/clear codes.

The other benefit is that you can save the files for reference later.

Short answer is I don't know. I don't think Insite 2. 1 or 2. 3 would support your ECM part #. If you are truly interested call your Local Cummins Distributor and ask to speak with the person that handles the Insite software and they should be able to tell you.

As I currently use 6. 2 version you can see that what is being auctioned is way outdated.



Best route if you have a laptop is probly the OBD stuff as mentioned in DavidCs' post.



Another route would be Quickcheck which uses a Palm Pilot, I have a couple freinds that are happy with it although they can't clear codes or do any diagnostic tests. Basically you can check for faults and monitor sensors with it, which will tell you a lot but is by no means an in depth tool.

Another short answer is NO. You would not be able to check codes with what is up for auction. To access the Cummins ECM in the Rams you would need a J1939 protocol adapter, either a Cummins inline II or a RP1210A aftermarket adapter. Also you need a minimum of insite 5. 4.
