32 valve Cummins?

Cummins Vs Duramax, Compare their #s

Need a Little Cheese With That Wine

I haven't heard that much wining since my dealer told me it would take 4 mounths to get my truck in. :p

When I refur to my truck I do call it a dodge and I let everyone know that I have had 54,000 trouble free miles of pulling anything from a logsplitter to a 35' goose neck trailer with 32,000 pounds of hay on it.

In my opinion these guys are just disapointed that their trucks are not as tuff as the dodge. The dodge may be loud and have a real front axle and ride like a truck and not a car( this is why I bought it):D But a least no one confuses my diesel truck for a gas truck.

I think we all love are trucks and hope that the CTD will give us many of trouble free miles and lots of enjoyment when we blow the doors off the PowerJokes and the Maxies going up the 8% grade loaded in our loud and too dependable Cummins powered Dodges:cool:

Give it up Chebys and face the reallity Cummins Rules and the rest just druel If you want to run with a Dodge you better buy one.

OK I'm done now

( getting off my soapbox )

Amen! However, I am surprised that a chevy owner knows that a Cummins cannot be compared to a DMax. And as far as the truck not lasting as long as the motor, I have yet to see a dodge running around with rusted out fenderwells.

I am an easy going guy... . but some ppl's logic makes me want to bang heads togeather!!! . I used to work at a ford dealer ship (lot monkey:rolleyes: ) and I was in love with the PSD I thoght it was the frosting on the cake! but then as I saw them comeing in for service and how hard they are to work on ( you have to fallow a computer trail to track down the problem) and expencive ( we can buy a FULL set of injectors for the price of ONE PSD injector!!) and the list goes on and on... . then my dad bought a 1990 dodge with a CTD and I was sold!!! but it wasnt till I ran onto this site by accident that I really started to learn what these little moters are all about!!!! :D :D then I went and found one for my self :) ... all I can say is I LOVE my truck. Jim

Nice post Steve , I don't hate chevy's as much as the arrogance the goes with them... Chevy rule's. . shove it up your ass !!! . I own a GM product and am very proud of it ( My Truck ) but I will say that when a vintage firebird owner comes to a car show powered by a chevy motor it is heavily frowned apon. . P. S My firebird is proudly towed by my Dodge

PZicha - I'm an Indian afficianado myself (GTO's here - you can see mine at http://my.voyager.net/stevest/vehicle.htm ). When I see someone who's dropped a Chevy engine into their Goat I just turn and walk away. Not that Chevy doesn't make a good engine, just that it's sacrilege in my mind to drop a bowtie motor into a TRUE poncho!

P. S. I just put another post on that thread - it seems that the guys there just didn't understand my point (the ones that posted). The others are probably sitting at their screens with their jaws on the floor saying, "I can't believe he's doing that with his LIGHT DUTY truck! I sure wish I could do that with mine!" :D

Steve,

Be so kind and inform "Hot Shot" that Rottweiler's are recognized in the AKC (so are Poodles) as Pedigrees dogs. The Pitt Bull (American Pitt Bull) is considered a mongrel in most of the Kennels clubs through out the world.

But in his defense so are many dog breeds that have been bred for 100 of years in the southern United States.

Steve,

I read your posts. You did a great job unlike most of the the others over there. I particularly liked the guy who would definitely have a Cat or a Cummins in a boat, but not a truck because it's way too much engine. Well, for that guy and the others like him who complain about the noise from a Cummins, stick with a gasser and don't waste your money on a wanna-be diesel for your truck.

One of the career firefighters who used to be at the station where I volunteer got a '95 Ram with the Cummins 12-valve. I still had my '92 Dakota at the time and was jealous. One night he had it in the engine bay and had just got done with an oil/filter change. He fired it up to do the standard checks and our Captain, who is a die-hard Chevy type, walked out into the engine bay and gave him a hard time (in jest) about how much noise it made. After the Captain left he turned to me, winked, and said, "You know what that sound is Tim? That's the sound of power!" I never forgot that, especially when I got my ISB.

I have people all the time whine or comment on how noisey my Ram is. My reply to them is, "Yes, it may be. But, it sure made you look and take notice as to what was coming. Didn't it?" I hardly ever get a reply. Funny how I never hear that about Fords or Chevys. I've owned GM cars and I liked them. When I got my first truck, it was a Dakota. But when the new style Rams came out and then Cummins upgraded the B to the ISB, I just had to have one. There was no question. My Dad has been a mechanic at a Cummins dealership for almost 40 years, so maybe I'm a bit biased. If you want a good diesel truck that's consistent and willing to work, get a Dodge with a Cummins in it. If you want a diesel truck just to have a diesel upgrade from a gasser, then get a Ford PSD or a Chevy DM. Just my humble opinion.

Umm.. trucks holding up ??

The new body style GM CK "new body style" has great engineered hinges on the doors - which will wear out prematurely. We've warrantied some 2000s already. The new style can't be rebuilt, a whole new hinge (same style as the old one) has to be installed, an 8 hour job.

The GM one tons use these same hinges.

I've also seen several larger trucks get towed in with transmission problems - with an allison.

Soo much for the GM trucks out lasting a Dodge.

Right on the money STEVE. I couldn't have said it better if I tried. To each his own each truck manufacturer has different things in mind when designing and building there truck. And if the consumer is smart he will look at what is available and what is best for there intended purpose. I don't know about you but I work hard for my money and will buy what best fits me at that time. There are advantages and disavantages to everything - so do your homework boys and girls and buy what will best fit your intended purpose in a truck. At todays prices it is too expensive to make mistakes.
