I took my truck in today to an authorized Cummins repair facility to have the KDP dealt with. The shop foreman insisted that I was wasting my money to have it fixed and that the 1st gen trucks do not have an issue with the KDP coming loose. He went on to say that the case was tapered at the end of the hole preventing the pin from falling out. I still told him to tab it.
After the case was open, the mechanic told me that everything was tight, the pin was seated, and like he told me, it wouldn't have fallen out regardless due to the design of the case.
So now I have a tab over the pin, lock tight on my bolts and $400 less in my pockets. Was this a necessary a repair??
This shop is reputable..... they do all the servicing for the buses and truck lines here in Victoria and are a Cummins dealer.
