Greetings All:

Been monitoring the site for a few months and find the info all very good. Just paid and joined so I could search for the info in the header.

I recently purchased a 2002 2500 with a little less then 100K on it and love it to death already (also have a 2001 1500 gasser with the 318 V-8). Before I bought it I knew high possibility of the LP and IP were likely the weak link and need replacing soon. On the the initial trip after purchasing it in DFW and the drive back to Tampa, I experienced "dead pedal". Took it to the dealer and yep, LP and IP need to be replaced just under the warranty wire (98,888 miles). Dealer is going to do the in take LP conversion and new IP. I want to add Cummins mechanical LP.

Stopped by TWO Cummins dealers and they didn't know anything about a mechanical LP for a 2002. Emailed Cummins directly to request a part/stock number and the they gave a very good reply but recommend against adding the mechanical LP and didn't give a part/stock number.

I did a search of this web site and found quite a few posts about adding the Cummins mechanical LP but could not find anyone who posted a Cummins part/stock number or any additional part/stock numbers needed to complete the install.

Can anyone help by supplying the Cummins part numbers for the LP and any additional mounting/installation hardware for a 2002 with a block number of 56859245?

Thanks for any help. Will gladly post the entire Cummins email reply if anyone asks for it.

You do know that this is not a direct bolt on right? Im not certain as to what exactly has to be done to put a mechanical LP on but i think it requires a cam change. Not exactly sure what else, if it were me i'd just get a FP gauge and call it a day.

First welcome to TDR now the bad news. You will have to change cams because yours doesn't have a lobe on it to run the pump.
