Cummins motorhome Swap????

I am not sure i am in the correct forum but i thought i would try anyways.

I have a 94 allegro motorhome with a 460 and i mechanic told me i could swap in a 93 cummins 5. 9 to replace it, i was wondering does anybody know anything about some Allegro's that were from the factory with a cummins motor and if so which year motor would i want to try to find????



If this in the wrong place i apologize and would hope someone could point me to the correct forum.

Anything can be done with enough time and $. If you were to do a swap use a 96-98 12 valve as they are 180 hp ( auto ) and 215 hp ( std ) as opposed to the 160 the 93 puts out. Ot get a 230 hp from a Freightliner. Don't forget a diesel up front where a gas used to be will be noisier. Your trans would have to be changed out as well. What about rear axle ratio? Would what you have allow the CTD to run in the right RPM range at cruising speed? You have to decide how much of the work you can do and how much you are prepared to spend. Is it worth spending lots or would it be cheaper to upgrade to a diesel pusher? Shadrach
