If you can get a spare engine cheep I would recomend it, parts for these engines are getting hard to find, and expensive.

I've also read in a few places that the A-series engines do not have a stellar track record. Then again, we're comparing them to the tried-and-true B-series...



You gotta love a small I6 diesel, though. If the 3. 0L Mercedes I6's were more plentiful and had any kind of aftermarket/performance following, I'd definitely be inclined to own one... even though they are IDI.

Ya th elong block we got from John was like $2700 or something. With shipping and all it was more but we also bought a new VE for like $750. THe long block looks awesome. Ne injectors, glow plugs and the works. I tore down the other motor for everything else and am about to put it all together. Axles are almost put together and all the hubs and brakes are on the way. We are getting close to getting it rolling.
