Archived Cummins only idles!

Left from a stop sign, check engine light comes on, truck won't accelerate, only idles. Stuck on side of road. Any ideas?



After shutting truck off for about 20 seconds, put pedal to the metal 3 or 4 times... now it accelerates somewhat, but check engine light still on. Ideas anyone?

Maybe the APPS sensor? What codes are you getting? Could try unhooking the batteries for 15 minutes and then recalibrating the APPS.

You need to find out what those codes are. It sounds like it went into limp mode.



Key off, on three times and leave on, watch odometer window for codes.

I've got the old part but don't know if it is easily fixed. Anybody try this? Guess next time, I'll know the symptoms & fix this myself for about $400.



BTW, the symptoms were... . at low RPM's/minimal throttle, engine speed would go to idle for about 5 seconds. Finally, after moving the throttle back & forth, the engine start responding again.
