56 views & no one know where I can get the part number? I called the local dealer this morning to check on replacement under warranty. He had to contact DC & found they don't cover the sending unit!? #@$%! It wasn't a question of time or milage.

get your engine serial # and call cummins. If you pull the sensor out alot of times its stamped on it, but its buried down in there pretty good. The phone call would be easier.

The dealer quoted a price of $79. 00 & it isn't even in stock at the supply depot. Something is really lame here. I'm going with a real gauge.

   WHAT???!!!!   I stock two versions of that sensor on my work truck, one of the two is on an engine and Im sure is the same product with my PN instead of cummins. I sell it for under $80, just like cummins..... And I work for a dealer (NOT D/C ! )

I called a Cummins dealer & was told the oil pressure sender is a truck part & I need to get it from Dodge.

I bought the replacement for my 99 at Cummins. Its been a few years though.

I have to think thats available, probly even in stock.

If all else fails:

Cummins Midtates in Ft wayne IN-- Jeromy in the shop is a good friend of mine and could steer you in the right direction.

Cummins Bridgeway in Hilliard, OH 614-771-1000 Rob at the parts counter does good for me. 1 800 diesels is Bridgway's toll free, That (I think) gets you to the nearest Branch.

My engine serial # is above those specified in this TSB. Also, mine has not been to the dealer for service. I suspect the reflash mentioned is the one that programs the gauge to tell you you have oil pressure whether you do or not. Seems like a shleezy way not to replace a faulty sensor.

I feel like I got some kind of run around today. 10 the dealer service dept. says sensors aren't covered under warranty. 2) A Cummins dealer says the sensor is a Dodge part 3) Dealer parts says sensors are not locally available. I hate to have to go 3 states away for the little part but I might just have to call that 800 #. Thanks for the input.

I was just dragged thru this mess. My Cummins dealer said the original sender was dis-continued and he gave me the new one ($30 :) ). Next day, after reading the instructions, I found out that the sender turned out to be a switch that requires a re-flash of the ECM ($265  ). Oh, by the way, Cummins said they couldn't do the re-flash. . Dodge has to do it. The reflash trashes the gage and turns it into an idot light... . without the light! It would read 55 psi forever. From other threads, I heard that Dodge was promoting this... . not Cummins. It also required a connection of a single wire into some obscure connector that I couldn't find. Cummins said they didn't have any idea where the connector was, but if I wanted to open a ticket, they would look (Still couldn't reflash though). Well, I told them I was mildly dissapointed and they could have their gage (I mean switch back). The parts guy was reluctant to take it back as it was an electrical part. He could discern my sincerity and decided it was best to take the gage back. I went to Dodge and bought their unit (actual sender). It works perfect, but I'm embarrased to say how much I spent ($200). The parts guy saw me grab my chest and decided to knock off 10 percent (cheaper than calling an ambulance). To replace, I layed across the top of the engine and stuck a mirror that reflected from underneath behind the fuel filter. Pretty easy install. Oh, I also had to go to Harbor Freight Tools to get an 1 1/4" deep well socket. . Couldn't find a Craftsman. If you can find a cheaper gage... . good luck. I wished I could have but came up dry.

I see, I'm not the only one to get the run around. I think I'll just pull the old VDO gauge off my rusted VW & run a little tubing through the dash. It's simple , cheap & it reads real oil pressure.
