As for the tach you could go this route.

Geno's also has an Isspro gauge you can buy, I believe you can buy either a 4k or 5k rpm gauge.

Nothing useful to add here, but since I'm a lover of both my Cummins and my old ('72) Satellite, all I can say is "That's cool!!!!"

Thanks to everyone for the interest
I built the cage about 20 years ago
it was very interesting that the 90 CTD fit so easily
uses a 727 from a airport tug, has a very low stall

a little history, about the Satellite
It's had many different combo over the years
the last one was a 540ci, 4500 stall, and Dana 60 > 4.56 gears

eng was set back 12"

a couple of years ago, I wanted a Street / Strip car, found a 72 Dart Swinger to put the 540, with a 518 trans, Dana 60, > 3.73 gears

No one was interested in the Satellite, so, it sat in the barn
every time I would walk past it
It looked like a Cummins would fit
So, Why not...lol

even used the stock truck radiator, fan and shroud

first time to the track ran 10.04 @ 60mph....lol
stock except turn in the power screw against the collar
and the WRONG gear in the rear 4.56, > just had to know what it would do.

a change of valve springs, while the turbo and plumbing was out of the way

and a gear change > 3.73 spool, 35 spline axles

best is 9.33 @ 72.43
have to much advance, and forgot to crank up the fuel
as you can tell

reactions were all over the place
due to runnin blind > no tach

I also think, I may need a higher stall

All I could do was push it
til the rear wheels slightly turned, while staging...lol
to get a decent reaction time

Wow thanks! Definetly a different way of thinking tuning the oil burner.
Talk to the pulling guys. I'm sure they'd have lots to add.

yea, I want the 540 engine to breathe

had to move the Master cylinder over/ the brake assembly

by swapping sides the manifolds fit better,
even thought about a twin turbo set-up

440 Source heads > when they first came out in 08

No plans to cool> only run it 1/8th mile
maybe a few 1/4 mile @ bowling green

Trying to keep it simple

It's the closer 1/4 Track, next is Huntsville, AL.
