mpg with 4bt in a jeep?

1978 CTD Ramcharger conversion...

I found a thread online that someone was stating that you could get this kit over the counter at cummins(bling bling?) for the pre 90 chevy trucks. anyone know about this? here is the copied reply from the thread:

Cummins sells its Power Mark Coversion kits for any pre 90 chevy. You can buy all the parts over the counter from Cummins Recon. The swap is a striaght up bolt in swap if you buy all the hoses and brackets.

Base kit ( part number RK9501)(Gas repower). Includes: Radiator hoses, partial exhaust, engine mounts, fuel hoses, air intake, throttle control and misc parts

Basic diesel repower kit part number RK9501D

power steering kit ( part number DF9025) adapts chevy saginaw pump to cummins

AC kit ( part number AC9551) adapts chevy pump to cummins

Transmission kit ( part number 100000001) Modulation control and govner for turbo 400

There are also some other odds and ends you will need but all aviliable from cummins directly. [/QUOTE]

There are several things there that I really don't think you'll need especially for the cost that I am sure they charge. First is the sagnaw pump conversion. You can get lines made at a hydralic shop cheaper to convert the cummins engine to power the GM hydrboost although i guess if you are putting the engine in a 1/2 truck you won't have the option. (Don't laugh there are people who have done it) The a/c kit i would be curious to se where it adapts to. There is a cummins bracket that moves the a/c pump towards the top of the engine seems it was a bus part. I can dig up the number if anyone needs it. But I would also like to know what exactly is included in these kits and how much one is.

tanner,if you can dig that a/c bracket number up,i would be greatful. the 12v engine i have is out of a bus,i intend to use as many of the bus parts as possible[alt, power steering pump, etc]to convert over to my 96 chev one ton project. trying to figure out what the best route is to rig up the a/c system!

ok. . here is what I have found out so far... ... cummins sold that part of the company to phill rich fleet supply I think in CA... . Im going to check with as soon as I can... . the parts manager at my local cummins shop said they used those kits around here mainly for the pepsi trucks... ?

I'd like to eventually put a 4BT in my CJ7. Advanced Frame Works is supposedly working on motor mounts specifically for this swap. I'm curious, and I'll admit igorance-

A motor mount has three parts, correct?

-Portion bolted/welded to frame

-Portion bolted to engine

-bushing that connects the two

So, if the 4BT has been used to repower chevy P30s, there should be the engine-side of the mount available already. Probably available as part of the kid listed above, or available separately. Could these be paired with regular SBC CJ7 motor mounts to mount the engine in the bay? By the time I'm ready to do this, AFW probably will have come up with their mount, but I'm curious to figure out if it can be done with existing parts.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Bstegall... ..... there is a guy that sells those p30 kits out of Georgia I think... I found his info on another site last week... . Ill see if I can find the site... . also there was a discussion on coloradok5 about the p30 kits... you might look there as well..... I think it was under the gm diesel thread. .
