Not so quick there. Maybe the japs might do a little better job than the Germans. Lets face it, with Chrysler laying off something like 20% of their workforce, I don't see this German merger as a roaring success.

If Toyota quality control was applied to the Dodge Rams, they would be the best trucks built period. Even better if Toyota designed a true full size pickup and stuck the Cummins engine in it with one of Toyotas transmissions. I have a Hino FD, 22300 GVW, which is basically a big Toyota. Toyota calls their big trucks Hinos, while Nissan calls their big trucks UD. This Hino was bought new Sep 89. It as always started on a dime, no problems of any kind with the engine, drivetrain or electrical. Handles real nice, a 14 ft. flatbed dump that has a turning radius of 36 ft. Yes, if Toyota took over the building of our Rams, we would have the best trucks out there.

Hmmm. I'm a design engineer for Toyota, and I've briefly mentioned in other posts, that it would be cool if Dodge decided to drop the Cummins that Toyota would use it and put it in a real TRUCK. Not necessarily a Tundra. Maybe after building a heavier duty Tundra, Toyota could call it a 3Tundra (following the 4Runner name style and the fact that it would wind up weighing about 3 tons, or more). Hehehehe.

Hmmm. Maybe I could print out this post and send it to, "The Man. " Maybe he would let me be the shusa. Maybe... ..... #ad

Just my opinion, but from what I've seen from the various trucks I've owned I think some Japaneese influence may be a good thing for our trucks. I'd bet money that the steering and brakes would work as advertised.

My wife asked me why I thought that Nissan and Toyota don't sell any 'real' trucks (3/4 and 1 ton diesel) in the states. I told her that I thought that there were too many people that were die hard "american made" truck buyers (Where are a good number of these trucks made again... Mexico, isn't it?) that would never buy a "foreign" diesel truck. Point is I think Toyota could teach Dodge a thing or two about finishing the job they started with these great trucks.
